Watchlist
A list of things to watch out for
From the editors

In this, which we hope will be a regular feature, we tell you briefly about new or recent publications which we think might appeal to you. These are not reviews (although they are recommendations) and we would be only too pleased to have reviews of the books mentioned from you, our readers. Plus suggestions for future lists of things to look out for, of course!

Banshee
Icarus in Flight
Masks
by Hayden Thorne.
Three novels just published by Prizm (a subsidiary of Torquere Press) and available on Amazon. These are supposed to be ‘Young Adult’ novels but readers of any age will enjoy them. ‘Masks’ is the first book in a trilogy.

Night Moves Volumes 1 and 2. This is an anthology of gay vampire stories from Aspen Mountain Press edited by Nigel, our editor-in-chief.  The anthology contains stories by Nigel himself, Anel Viz and Margaret.

From Aspen Mountain Press's comment : stories of vampires and their lives and how they interact with those around them make up this hot m/m anthology.

Volume 1
Volume 2

Standish

by Erastes (P.D. Publishing inc.) Published late 2006 - the paperback is available on Amazon. A Regency story.
The Protector by N.L.Gassert. This is a modern, gay thriller set in Guam.If you live in USA it is available from the website or from Amazon. In UK Amazon can only supply it via a ‘seller’, or from  SeventhWindow
A Strange Place in Time by Alyx Shaw. This is a fantasy trilogy by the author of Saving Lazlo (this issue). Torquere have given the author a contract to publish the trilogy as e-books. The first is now available. The sale of e-books will dictate whether the trilogy ends up in a printed version.

The White Palace Awakens, the second volume in this trilogy is due to be published by Torquere Press in August.

Love Saves the Day, Torquere ‘taste test’ volume of short stories (see notes to Waiting for the Sun), is out now.

In Bear Country II:The Barbary Coast
Seti’s Heart
both by Kiernan Kelly (Torquere Press)
Men of Mystery, an anthology containing a story ‘Any Means Necessary’ by Fiona Glass (yes, our Fiona) has been nominated as a finalist in the glbt section of the Lambda Awards for 2008. The book, which was published by Haworth Press, is still available on Amazon but Haworth Press no longer deal in fiction.
The Nightwatch
by Sarah Waters (Virago Press). A WW2 story of m/m and f/f relationships - published last year and nominated for various awards and prizes.
Shifting Perspectives is another anthology, this time featuring Fiona Glass and Emily Veinglory, writing gay shapeshifter tales.

Shifting Perspectives 2 is due out in October. Sequels to the stories by Fiona Glass and Emily Veinglory in the first volume, plus a new story by Sharon maria Bidwell.

We recommend the purchase of e-books and zines. Avoid shipping charges!  Save money! Save paper! Save space on your bookshelves! But we will review and recommend printed books, and films on DVD too! So write to us.
